So when we saw this article, we immediately thought “oh gawd help us all”, you know, because we’re old and uncool.
But then we actually read the article and thought about it and it started to make a ton of sense. So many jobs now are digitally based, and the age group of under 25 have played a LOT of roblox in their salad days on earth. So being able to remove some of the worries and angst in the job interviewing process made sense.
The idea that a company can recognize and adapt is massive – right now the job posting and interview process is so absolutely abysmal that we shudder for anyone have to go through it. One former comrade has applied to over 2,000 jobs where they are over qualified and ready to begin contributing on day 1 – and has received a total of 2 interviews. Hardly any replies. Often when you see a job posting on LinkedIn for any junior to mid level job, there will be thousands of applicants for the job in a matter of hours. Overwhelming to the HR folks, the managers, and a recipe for failure for the job applicants.
Perhaps moving things to the digital world where folks will talk and communicate (digitally) will help to make us all rethink how we hire and train folks, the world is big, but our lives (and especially our careers) are all built on the personal relationships we develop, starting with early career jobs is a great thing to see.
Well done Roblox!
